Gram Tarang Employability Training Services

Millions of young Indians drop out of the school system each year, especially in rural India. These unskilled young people are unable to sustain livelihoods or generate income. They suffer social and economic exclusion and become prime recruitment targets of extremist groups, especially in the red corridor districts of East India. At the same time, India is facing an enormous gap between supply and demand for skilled human resources, which is a major impediment to the economic growth of the nation.

Gram Tarang aims to enable young Indians from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds to gain skills, certification and employability; and put them in a position where they can provide for themselves and their families. Young people are trained in technical and soft skills in a variety of trades. They gain skills and experience along with certification, and are placed into employment or self-employment. The generation of income and ongoing upskilling leads to wider social and economic benefits. In the long term, Gram Tarang is working towards rural communities being well-skilled, employable and self-reliant, able to provide comfortably for themselves and their families.

Gram Tarang has strong partnerships with industry and government. The National Skills Development Corporation is also an important supporter in enabling Gram Tarang to scale up.
